Booking Summary & Pricing

The Order Summary panel is not tied to a single step — it's visible throughout Booking Details, Add-ons, Your Info, and Payment, showing the guest a constantly updated view of what they'll pay. This page explains everything shown there: the live totals, the promo code flow, and exactly how the final price and deposit are calculated.

Quick start

  1. Watch Total Bill and Amount Due Now update automatically as booking details are chosen
  2. Click "Have a promo code?" to reveal the code field, if there's a discount to apply
  3. Enter the code and click Apply
  4. Review Amount After Discount once a valid code is applied
  5. Confirm the final numbers before paying on the Payment step

Layout

The panel shows Total Bill and Amount Due Now, with the promo code control sitting below them behind a divider. No separate add-on or booking subtotal is ever broken out here — only these running totals, plus Amount After Discount once a discount is applied.

Before a price is available

Until enough is chosen to quote a price — booking type, date, and time slot — both Total Bill and Amount Due Now show "—". The "Have a promo code?" entry point is still visible even before a price is available, but attempting to apply a code at that point shows: "Select your booking details before applying a promo code." — without attempting a request.

Live totals

Total Bill and Amount Due Now recalculate automatically, after a brief pause, whenever anything price-relevant changes on any step — booking type, date, time slot, guests, add-ons, or gratuity. While recalculating, both figures show a loading placeholder instead of a number. Once settled, amounts are formatted to two decimal places with the location's currency code (for example, "CAD 137.50").

With no discount applied, only Total Bill and Amount Due Now are shown. With a discount applied, an Amount After Discount row also appears between them — Total Bill always keeps showing the pre-discount figure, while Amount After Discount shows the reduced one.

Promo codes

Applying a code

The promo section starts collapsed behind a "Have a promo code?" link. Clicking it reveals a Promo Code field and an Apply button — Apply stays disabled until something is typed, and again while a request is already in flight.

A code that earns a saving shows a success message naming the code and the amount saved, for example: "Promo SAVE10 applied - you saved CAD 10.00." The input is replaced by that message plus a "Remove promo code" link, and Total Bill, Amount After Discount, and Amount Due Now all update immediately.

Invalid or ineligible codes

SituationMessage shown
Code resolves but earns nothing"This promo code could not be applied."
Code doesn't exist or is inactive"No discount found for this code."
Code hasn't started yet"This promo code is not yet active."
Code's active period has ended"This promo code has expired."
Code restricted to certain weekdays, chosen date falls outside them"This promo code is not valid on the selected weekday."
Code restricted to specific calendar dates, chosen date isn't one of them"This promo code is not valid on the selected date."
Code restricted to a time window, chosen slot falls outside it"This promo code is not valid for the selected time."
Code has hit its maximum redemptions"This promo code has reached its maximum usage limit."

Any of these messages clears as soon as the code field is edited again — there's no need to click Apply again just to dismiss it. The totals shown stay at their last-known value while an apply attempt fails; they never blank out.

Removing a code

"Remove promo code" clears the discount and recalculates the total without it. After removal, the promo field stays open and empty, ready for another code — it doesn't collapse back to the "Have a promo code?" link.

Codes and later changes

Changing a price-relevant field after a code is applied — date, time slot, guests, add-ons, gratuity — keeps the code applied and recalculates the discounted total against the new price. If a later change makes an applied code ineligible for the new selection (for example, changing to a date the code doesn't cover), the totals may not always show a clear explanatory message in that specific case — if the numbers look stuck or unclear after such a change, try re-entering the promo code to refresh the discount status.

Pricing breakdown

Every booking price is built the same way, regardless of the pricing strategy used:

Total = Base Price − Discount + Add-Ons + Tax + Gratuity + Service Fee

Here's what each part means and the order they're applied in:

1. Base price

Determined by the activity's pricing strategy for the chosen booking type:

StrategyHow the base price works
Per PersonAdult rate × number of adults, plus child rate × number of children
Per Unit / LaneNumber of units needed (rounded up to fit the party) × the unit price
CascadingEach guest is charged at a tiered rate that drops as more guests are added
PartyOne fixed package price, regardless of guest count
RentalOne fixed rental price, regardless of guest count

Some activities also use dynamic pricing — a different price configured for specific dates or days of the week (for example, a higher weekend rate). When it applies to the selected date, it fully replaces the standard base price, and everything below is calculated from that dynamic price instead.

2. Discount

A promo code, when applied, reduces the base price before add-ons, tax, or service fee are calculated — as either a flat amount or a percentage off. Add-ons are never discounted; the discount always applies to the base price only.

3. Add-ons

Any add-ons chosen are totaled (quantity × unit price for each) and added on top of the discounted price.

4. Tax

Tax is calculated as a percentage of the discounted price plus add-ons. If no tax rate is configured, no tax line appears at all.

5. Gratuity

An optional tip, available only when booking through this customer-facing page and only for booking types configured to ask for it. Gratuity is calculated from the original base price — before any discount, add-ons, or dynamic pricing — and it is not taxed. It's added after tax, so it never changes the tax amount. See Your Info for how the gratuity choice is made.

6. Service fee

Calculated last, on top of everything above (subtotal + tax + gratuity), as either a flat amount or a percentage. If no service fee is configured, the final total is simply the taxed subtotal plus gratuity.

How the deposit ("Amount Due Now") is calculated

Amount Due Now is the portion collected today; it's always recalculated live and is capped so it never exceeds Total Bill. If no deposit is configured, it shows as $0.00. It's also only ever shown with a service fee added on top when a real payment is actually being collected right now — if nothing is being charged upfront, the service fee portion is left out of the deposit figure.

The deposit works differently depending on the type configured for the activity:

Deposit typeHow it's calculated
Flat AmountThe fixed amount, plus tax on that amount, plus a service fee on that amount (when a payment is actually being collected now)
Percentage (not 100%)A percentage of the base price plus tax on the base price — not the final total. This means a promo code, gratuity, or add-ons don't change this deposit, since none of them are part of what the percentage is based on
Percentage at exactly 100%Equals the full Total Bill exactly — including discount, gratuity, add-ons, and service fee. This is the one percentage case where those adjustments do change the deposit
Full AmountAlways equals the Total Bill exactly, whatever adjustments have been applied
One PersonBased on a single adult's price plus tax (and service fee, if a payment is due) — not the group total. If there are zero adults but at least one child, it's based on the child's price instead. This applies even for Party-type bookings, which otherwise use a flat package price

A useful rule of thumb: Flat Amount, Percentage (below 100%), and One Person deposits are all based on a fixed reference point that a discount, gratuity, or add-ons don't change — only guest-count changes affect the ones based on a per-person price. Full Amount and Percentage at 100% always mirror the final total exactly, including every adjustment.

Common scenarios

Understanding why my deposit didn't change after applying a promo code

This is expected for Flat Amount, Percentage (below 100%), and One Person deposit types — they're calculated from a fixed base that a promo code doesn't reduce. Only Full Amount and Percentage at exactly 100% move together with the Total Bill.

Checking how much is left to pay later

Compare Total Bill to Amount Due Now — the difference is what remains to be settled after the deposit collected today, typically on the day of the activity.

A promo code stopped working after changing the date

If a code is restricted to specific days, dates, or times, changing the date or time slot can make it no longer eligible. Re-enter the code to see its current status, or try a different one.

Frequently asked questions

Why do Total Bill and Amount Due Now show different numbers?

Total Bill is the full price of the booking. Amount Due Now is only the deposit collected today — the two differ whenever a partial deposit (rather than full payment) is configured.

Does a discount apply to add-ons?

No. Discounts only reduce the base price. Add-ons are always added afterward, at their full price.

Is gratuity taxed?

No. Gratuity is calculated from the pre-discount base price and added after tax, so it's never part of the taxable amount.

Why did my Amount Due Now include an extra small charge?

That's likely a service fee applied to the deposit itself. A service fee is only added when a real payment is being collected right now — if nothing is due upfront, it's left out.
